WARM-UP ROUTINE for pole dancers

Do you need a warming-up routine to start your pole training? Here it is... 28 minutes of exercises that will help you to warm up the main muscles used during a pole dance session.
This is not an exhaustive routine! Don't hesitate to add cardio and a few sets of abs. After each workout, don't forget to stretch your upper body with a focus on the shoulders.

MOBILITY ROUTINE for pole dancers and no-pole dancers

Do you want more mobile and flexible shoulders? There are no secrets...You have to work for it. Healthy, flexible, strong shoulders are the key to success in pole - especially when it comes to advanced tricks!
Here you have a 16-minute routine that you can do minimum 3 times a week for 5 weeks to see concrete progress. The most important thing is not to go fast... but to be aware of what you are doing: understand the movement and do it in full consciousness!

All the answers to your questions!

Q&A

Absolutely! There are no prerequisites to start pole dancing even if you have never exercised before. You will build up muscles through strength exercises on the pole with your own body weight. You will progress at your own pace, depending on your background and your commitment to attend class regularly.

If you have any medical conditions, injuries or are worried about any aspect of your health you must consult your doctor prior to attending any class. Please communicate to your instructor any health conditions at the start of the class.

Pole dance has many physical and psychological benefits.
Physically you will be developing endurance, flexibility and strength resulting in toned muscles, strong core and better posture.
Mentally you will have increased self-esteem and confidence. The classes create a sense of solidarity with other classmates as each of you takes control of your own body to feel empowered like never before.

If you do not have any experience, you have to follow the Pole introduction level.

Absolutely not! You are never too old for exercise and the same is true for pole dancing. We teach students in their 50's and up. Everyone starts somewhere! In the pole community people of all ages, shapes and sizes train together, support and encourage each other.

Yes! Pole dancers need to stick to the pole with their skin to be able to execute the movements. When pole dancing, you are placing sensitive parts of your skin onto a thin piece of metal and letting your weight sink into it. These parts of skin – like your inner thigh or the back of your knee – are not used to this motion. But rest assured, the more you practice, the more you will be used to it and eventually you will not feel it anymore.

If you do not have any experience, you have to follow the Pole introduction level.

Whatever you feel comfortable in but a sports bra and shorts are recommended for pole classes. Pole dancers need to stick to the pole with their skin, and you will learn to climb the pole and sit pretty fast. Bare inner thighs, knees, arms and waist are crucial to hold on to the pole. It's important to always bring a pair of leggings and socks for the warm-up.

We are barefoot for the technical classes but for exotic pole or low flow classes, proper platform shoes are required, such as Pleasers, Hella Heels,... and knee pads are a must! Always provide protection for your platforms so as not to leave marks on the ground.
You should not wear any creams, gels, lotions or oils on the day of practice. Sweating will release the lotion back to the surface, and you will be sliding off the pole.
Please remove all jewelry when attending any class to avoid damaging the equipment.

For regular pole dance classes
If you are a complete beginner or a beginner, it is only possible to start in January, April or September. If you are inter or advanced, you can start anytime during the year.
For workshops and specific classes (exotic, flexibility, low flow, strength & flex...)
You can join anytime during the year

Yes, we do! Everyone is welcome in our classes.
We have male students and even a male teacher!

The basics are the essence of the practice of pole dance. Being able to do a move once does not mean you master it: being able to do it in a choreography consistently with proper form is the final goal. Each level has a specific set of movements, tricks and spins that students have to achieve to go to the next level. It takes approximately 20 classes to be ready to go to the next level.
Pole dance is a journey, not a destination…

A 2 hour pole practice is organized every last Sunday of the month from 14h to 16h in Wilsele.
15€ for 2 hours / max 2 per pole / registration required

• Make sure you bring your own water.
• Bring a hand towel to regularly dry your hands and dry the pole to prevent slipping.
• Do not eat any later than two hours before your class. This can help not to get nauseous during a spinning pole class.
• DC Pole values: body positivity, self-love, support community in a safe space free of discrimination and judgement.

DC STUDIO has liability insurance for personal injury at ETHIAS ASSURANCE.
Each student has to pay an annual fee to be covered by the insurance.
The participants are aware of the fact that the practice of pole dance and stretching can cause bruises, contusions, abrasions etc. Known mental or physical problems that limit the exercises need to be communicated to the teacher beforehand.
If you are injured during the course, you must inform the teacher directly and go see a doctor. Within 24 hours, you must fill out the insurance papers and send them to info@dcpolestudio.com. You will get your credits back only if you have returned a medical certificate within 24h.
